Congratulations to 2018 Marsden Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to Tori Brandenburger and Nick McClay, recipients of the 2018 Marsden Scholarship awarded by the Roslyn Boys & Girls Club. We are proud of Tori and Nick and wish them all the best for a successful future.

Tori Brandenburger will study Accounting at the University of Mississippi. She is an active, involved student who has participated in TADA, Athletes Helping Athletes Mini-Thon, Friends Against Drugs and Alcohol, the Breastfeeding Resource Center, the Buddies Club, and Roslyn Field Day. Tori has been recognized for her academic prowess by being named to the National Junior Honor Society. She has played softball for the Roslyn Boys & Girls Club and Abington Senior High School, and she also found time to be manager of the Girls High School Basketball team when they won the District Championship. She enjoys watching sports, movies, cooking with her Mom, and singing pop songs with her Dad. Her references describe her as a mature, team oriented, motivated student and all around great kid.

Nick McClay will study Business Management at West Chester University. He played baseball and soccer for Roslyn and then played soccer at AC United and baseball for the American Legion team. He has coached soccer at Roslyn and refereed basketball and soccer games. He played CYO basketball at Bishop McDevitt for four years and received the Lancer Leadership Scholarship in 9th grade. He was named JV team MVP in 10th grade for the baseball team and was also named a Silver Slugger. In 11th grade he was named third team All Catholic and 2nd team All League for the Sr Legion team. He was captain of the varsity baseball team in both 11th and 12th grades, and he is also captain of his AC United team. His varsity coach describes Nick as a quiet leader who gives his best on every play. His Legion coach states that Nick is polite, bright, articulate, and plays with a competitive but cool, even demeanor. He is admired by his peers for his abilities, his love of baseball, and the positive manner in which he interacts with them.
